August 2022

Optimists gather at quarterly on August 27, 2022 in Santa Maria.

Optimists from all over PSWD, (Pacific Southwest District) gather to exchange ideas about different projects clubs can do, and have fun with Optimists all the way from Paso Robles to Los Angeles. These quarterlies offers the opportunity of camaraderie between members of different clubs in PSWD. We learn a lot about all of the different programs Optimist International has to offer and projects various clubs are organizing for the youth of their communities!

Optimist Club collect toys and food for drives

The Optimist Club of Canyon County held a drive to collect toys for the Spark of Love Toy Drive and nonperishable food items for Santa Clarita Grocery at the Westfield Valencia Town Center Saturday.

Positioned directly across the street from Los Angeles County Fire Station 126, the club aimed to collect as many toys as possible, which were donated to the Fire Station, one of many sponsors for the annual toy drive.

Supplying KareKits & Hosting an Annual Summer Picnic

• Annual Essay Contests for local Santa Clarita schools

• Supporting local students in need with backpacks and school supplies

• Spark of Love Holiday Toy Drive, LA County Fire Dept.

• KHTS Home and Garden Show

• Relay for Life of Santa Clarita, American Cancer Society

• Carousel Ranch – Equestrian Therapy for disabled children

• Annual Youth Home Bowling Day at local bowling alley

• Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry

• Bridge to Home – provides shelter and supportive services which helps individuals and families in the SCV move from homelessness to housing

• Junior Blind Olympics Optimist International
